Today was a great start to the week. I had 9 items to ship out today. My rubber stamps are still selling strong, and I am not even at the half way point on my stamps. I was not able to list this weekend, I was getting things rearranged at my work for new equipment. This week I will try to make up the listings. I looked at my boxes of children’s books and figure I have over 800 books to get listed. I will update on how many I can get listed tomorrow. Listing should be faster as I had my employees go through books and look for any damages. If damage is found they have placed a sticky note with damage for listing. I did answer a few questions on items so hopefully tomorrow I will have more sales.

Today was another good day of sales. I sold a total of 12 items, taking out all fees my profit was $48.49 for the day and my ROI (Return On Investment) was 820%. For the year my ROI is 719%.

For the year my lowest profit item was a Diorama I purchased. Lesson learned from this item was, the audience that is interested in this item is so small I would have to warehouse it a long time to get the price I wanted for the item. My goal is to move the items at a good ROI. When I sold the item I under estimated the shipping. I charged $30 for shipping and it cost me $48.99, so instead of breaking even I lost $14.11 (-31% ROI). This is an example of a bad investment if you are wanting to move product, if you don’t mind warehousing I could have held on to it and made money. When I realized my mistake I wanted to just break even as space is a premium.

For the year my highest ROI item is a book. I had a profit of $33.97 and a ROI of 67940%! Amazing find.

I was not able to list any items today due to my regular job. But I was able to have some of my employee’s help me going through my Library books making notes of any issues with the books. This will help in the listing process as this step will already be done. Many Ebay Sellers are able to list 100 items in a day. I still have not been able to do this. I will keep trying.

4/6/20

Today was a great start to the week. I sold 21 items this weekend for a total of $213.00. I was only able to list 3 more DVD’s for sale today. My mother who works at our company is working from home so I bring home a box of children’s books for her to start listing.

A pointer to watch when you are listing. I had combined stamps that alone were not worth much so I made a lot of 31 stamps. When combining items take the time to double check the weight. I did not put enough postage on the stamps so on this one sale I lost money.

Time’s are tough for everyone right now and you need to make sure you are being fair don’t over charge for something. I had one customer purchase two stamps and pay for freight on both. I was able to combine shipping so I issued a refund for part of the freight. We all have good fortune it comes in different forms and we need to pay it forward.

Covid-19 Effects

I am using this time when I am not at work (I work for an essential business) to list on Ebay. I also had some family & friends come over and pick out books for there children since they are doing school from home. This was fun to watch the children pick out books and get so happy on some of the books they found.

My focus is to get all the stamps listed then list the children’s books since people are at home they might be buying these items. Houseware items go on hold.

I listed all the stamps and they are selling like hot cakes. Then I remembered I had bought a lot of Cross Stitch Needle Point. So I started listing this lot. I paid $25 for this lot and in less then 24 hours I had 3 items from that lot sell for $40. I still have approx. 20 items left in this lot, again another good lot. I am now listing DVD’s and then Games.

Lake Hills Auction

This Auction Company I will be following. A Great Family that runs the auction very nice. I also won several nice lots. I bid on a lot that was everything on top of this 6 foot table. I won the lot for $35.00. Most of the items I will resale on Ebay some I will take to resale shop and balance I will donate. There were also seven lots of rubber craft stamps. The bid was at $11.50 per lot I bid $12.50 on each of the seven lots. I was expecting to be bid up and no one bid against me. I won all seven lots. When I went to pick them up I was surprised when I saw the lots. There were more stamps then I realized and nice stamps. I knew this was going to be a great investment.

Library Auction

I am doing good on books that I purchased from the Dripping Springs Auction they are selling fairly quick and at a good profit. The Library book auction started at a good price and each lot was a minimum of two pallets. Another thing in my favor was the weather, it was going to be raining on the day of pick up so buyers would need to rent a enclosed vehicle an additional expense. I won two of the lots so I got 4 pallets with this auction. I have just over $150.00 into the two lots.

Dripping Springs Auction

To start my journey off I purchased some items from an Auction in Dripping Springs. I spent $270.31 on 19 lots. My oldest son went with my mother and I to pick up the items, as he bought two items to resale. One lesson to learn from this auction was think about what you bid before you buy. I try to research everything I bid on if possible. One item I bid on was a punching bag, but you fill it with water. They showed a picture of it hanging and it was in good condition. I purchased it for $6.00 and figured I could resale it for $75.00. When we went to get the punching bag it was still filled with water and hanging from the tree. My six foot tall football player build son could not even lift it. The plug to drain the water was at the top. If you could have been a fly on the wall you wold have laughed so hard at us. My mother and I are trying to get the water out of the ball my son wants to just leave it and we are telling him no we can do it, well with his help and 30 minutes later we got the ball down. So think things through before you buy them.

I have listed all the books (4 lots of books) and (2 lots) of Lego books. I should do well on the books as I had one book alone sell for $40.00, $20.00, $15.00 and multiple at $5.00. then the balance $1.00 – $3.00 plus shipping on all items.

One lot was Nutcrackers, this lot I did not notice the shoe was missing on two of the larger nutcrackers, but I should still make more then I paid for them.

Three of the Four lots of toys I purchased, I have listed and one lot of baby items I also listed. One lot had eight Arthur Court Aluminum pieces and I also listed those.

I still have Baseball cards, Fossils, Kitchen items and a Home school Curriculum lot to list. I plan on having all the items listed this weekend. I will update you on large sales as they come in.
